If you look up "preauricular tags" in a medical embryology text, there should be a photo. They look like large skin tags, right in front of the ear, usually near the little flap that one can push back to cover the ear canal if the environment is noisy! This is the one time a google image search did not yield good photos. The two that came up are a child with a preauricular tag and an incompletely formed pinna (external ear), along with the reconstruction, and a large one in an adult with a tumor of the eye for which they are a marker.
