Eszter I would not consider it normal for a 9 mo old to lose weight, unless there was an intervening acute illness or other known illness. I do not think teething would lead to a 1/2 lb. wt loss. So I would think something is wrong. It seems the baby was eating solids but then began refusing. What are the particulars of this? What kind of solids? How fed to baby or does baby feed self? Any parenting issues related to feeding, like food battles or some such behavior? What about allergies? Any history of this in family members? any indications of this at earlier ages? What about development? Is the baby happy, and developing normally? What other symptoms or signs can parents detect? Any vomiting or refluxing symptoms? It is a real mystery but warrants investigation in my opinion. Laurie Wheeler, IBCLC, MN, RN New Orleans Louisiana, s.e.
