Alice The first thing I thought of was this is an opthalmic preparation and not a systemic one. It would not be used to treat someone who needed systemic treatment so it is acting mostly locally. Also the baby is 4 mos old. Anyway, the website below was the best one I found after doing a google search (love google). It states that pregnant or lactating women should talk to their doctor before taking the med. It does not state they should not take it. Also it says overdose is not expected to cause harm and some other reassuring things. Have the mom and the bab's doc take a look at this site. I would feel very reassured to continue to bf on this med. http://www.ochsner.org/Library/HealthGuide/DrugGuide/topic.asp?hwid=multumd01215a1 Laurie Wheeler, IBCLC, MN, RN (I used to work at Ochsner) New Orleans Louisiana, s.e.
