My pretty caliornia bees, (yellow) were the first to die off.

I was wondering the exact same point. But with the sheers size of cal. who
would know which part they came from? Still, dead is dead. Im going to try
to rebuild the stock from the sucessfully overwintering hives. My efforts
to find a swarm that over wintered on their own will also be redoubled!

This brings back the point of the old timers swearing by italian stock. It
gives me great respect for those doing genetic work.
