Have any of you ever seen droplets of milk expressed from the areola? I have seen this several times lately, where drops of colostrum appear on (sometimes very large) areola, often fairly far away from the nipple face. This is seen in response to hand expression. I'm not really worried about it, I guess it is a normal variant, but just wondered of its prevalence and any related issues? Laurie Wheeler, IBCLC, MN, RN New Orleans Louisiana, s.e.
