Just a quick question....

Heard a new one from a mother the other day. She had a baby who was not back
up to birth weight by 1 week and her pediatrician asked her to stop taking
laxatives as that could be a cause of poor absorption of nutrients if the
baby was stooling too much. Of course she did exactly that and the baby
seemed to gain weight well after that, so she's quite sure it made all the
difference for her situation.

What do you all think about the possibilty of this? I'm thinking of course
that the weight was due to normal milk maturation. I searched the
archives...with nothing noted. Mom did say that after she ceased taking the
laxatives, that the baby's stools did slow down.....hmmmmmm. sorry that I
did not gather more specific info......I think she was just taking a normal
amount not anything excessive.
