While preparing for a recent garage sale, I assembled my classical LP collection of some 500 items for the first time in several years. I decided it was time to try and find a good home for these discs, and my first impulse was to use eBay or another online auction service. But before I resort to that, I decided to set up my own "shop" to sell my LPs. You can visit the first incarnation at: http://www.classical.net/lps/ I'll be opening the shop to the world next week, but I thought I'd give members of MCML and first crack at what I have to sell. I decided to start with my audiophile LPs, including half-speed mastered discs from Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs and direct-to-disc recordings from Sheffield Labs. There are also a few rare recordings, such as Columbia recordings that have been sealed for 45 years (they were my grandfather's). I think there are some gems in here. In fact, it was rather exciting to spend time going through my LP collection again. There's certainly no beating the format for the presentation of cover art. The bottom line is that these albums are no longer of use to me, and I want to get rid of them all. If you see something you'd like but are unsure of the price, please make an offer. I have done my best to accurately price the LPs based on listing of the same release at online auction houses such as eBay and uBid, as well as online retail and private LP dealers. I couldn't find information for some items, and so I've had to guess. A good example is the classic Messiah by Beecham on RCA. This is a special boxed set that was limited to a run of 1000, and I couldn't find a comparable item for sale on the Internet. So, if you know what you are willing to pay for an item, please let me know and we'll discuss it. Most of my classical CD collection, and all of the releases from audiophile labels such as Sheffield and MFSL, were purchased between 1982 and 1988. Since purchase, they have been properly stored indoors with temperature control (heating/air conditioning). They have been moved coast-to-coast and back and have probably seen some temperature extremes, though not for extended periods of time. Opened LPs were played on either Denon/Grado or Thorens/Grado setups kept properly aligned. If opened and played, most LPs were only played once or twice. LPs were never lent out, and I have not had a turntable connected to my system since 1988, so none of them have been played since then. All newer LPs have been in protective plastic sleeves since they were first unwrapped. Please use the shopping cart system to place queries about discs or to place an order. LPs are subject to prior sale. I have only one copy of each disc listed, and will fill orders on a first-come, first-served basis as the "orders" arrive via email. The shopping cart does not take credit cards, and actually should be viewed more as a wish list for placing a preliminary order. All orders are finalized via email with the person placing the order. I can take checks drawn on U.S. banks or PayPal, which allows you to pay with your credit card (signup is free). If you need to contact me directly for any reason concerning these LPs, please write to: [log in to unmask] Dave [log in to unmask] http://www.classical.net/
