Dan Locklair's Symphony No. 1 "Symphony Of Seasons" To Receive World Premiere With Louisville Orchestra on October 19 - Opening concert of orchestra's Hilliard Lyons MasterWorks Series Dan Locklair's Symphony No. 1, "Symphony of Seasons" will be given its World Premiere by Music Director Uriel Segal and the Louisville Orchestra on Saturday, October 19, 2002, at 8:00 p.m. in Whitney Hall, Sixth and Main Streets in Louisville, Kentucky. This will be the opening concert of the orchestra's 2002-2003 Hilliard Lyons MasterWorks Series. The concert will also feature Wagner's Prelude to Parsifal and violinist Augustin Hadelich performing the Beethoven Violin Concerto. Locklair's Symphony No. 1, "Symphony of Seasons," completed in January 2002, was inspired by The Seasons, a collection of poems by eighteenth century British poet James Thomson. The work was the result of an orchestral consortium commission led by the Louisville Orchestra and was funded in part by the Copying Assistance Program of the American Music Center. Recognized nationally for being at the forefront of new music, the Louisville Orchestra has recently been presented with its eighteenth ASCAP Award for the Adventurous Programming of Contemporary Music.
