Beth, If Tom doesn't jump in here first himself, I have his latest info on hand, and you're right, it's not in the current book. Tom studied metformin in breastmilk while down in Australia. What he found, among other things, was that throughout the time that plasma levels of the drug peaked, the amount in mother's milk was much, much lower. Transferance of metformin to the infant was largely insignificant. Tom currently has it rated as an L3 but plans to raise it to L2 on his scale of 5 in the red book. I believe that he has also submitted his research for publishing, so hopefully we will soon have an "official" source. (The graph I have from him cites Hale and Ilett, Diabetologia, In Press 2002) ~Lisa Marasco *********************************************** To temporarily stop your subscription: set lactnet nomail To start it again: set lactnet mail (or digest) To unsubscribe: unsubscribe lactnet All commands go to [log in to unmask] The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
