Blind moms can be taught to place their thumb on the areola, where the corner of baby's mouth should be. Then they can feel for baby;s lips and make sure they are in the right place before pulling baby in. The baby can also be taught to do more of the work. If mom reclines a bit and holds baby prone on her chest, the baby can usually find and attach to the nipple alone. -- Catherine Watson Genna, IBCLC New York City mailto:[log in to unmask] *********************************************** To temporarily stop your subscription: set lactnet nomail To start it again: set lactnet mail (or digest) To unsubscribe: unsubscribe lactnet All commands go to [log in to unmask] The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
