Job Openings

 

            The Department of Archaeology and Landscapes at Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest has two immediate openings for temporary field technicians.  Staff will work a 37.5 hour week.  Housing and per diem are not provided, but the position does include benefits that can be applied towards health insurance, disability insurance or a tax-deferred annuity. 

            Field work will include plantation survey and recovery of evidence of Jefferson’s ornamental and plantation landscapes.  Candidates should have earned a bachelors degree in Anthropology or a related discipline with training in historical archaeology.  Familiarity with the excavation of complex stratigraphy and with 19th century material culture is required.  The ability to work effectively as a member of a team, and to interpret
