Just returned from New York where I saw an ad campaign on the subway for the Bronx Zoo. At first I thought it very cute. All signs showed a baby animal and stated, "The Babies Are Here," and had some modified human baby item also picture. The ostrich had a pair of shoes with really long tops, the lizard and a plaster ornament with a lizard foot print in it, the gorilla had a baby play mat with vines hanging down. Well, I got to the bat...rows of bottles hanging upside down! Yipes! Besides raising my blood pressure, I did wonder how one would feed a baby bat? I went to their web site www.wcs.org/ohbaby or www.wcs.ogr/bronxzoo and there are none of the pictures on the site. However, for those great letter/e-mail writing lactnetters out there...here are the requisite addresses. The Bronx Zoo is run by the Wildlife Conservation Society 2300 Southern Blvd. Bronx, NY 10460 718-220-5100 Media relations: Stephen Sautner [log in to unmask] 718-220-3682 Bronx Zoo Public Relations [log in to unmask] Then, I was at FAO Schwartz. They have a new doll. The display is titled "Newborn Nursery." The salesperson was dressed in nurse scrubs. Of course you can purchase accessories complete with formula. Interesting doll, weighted like newborn so neck needs support (adoption fee: $120) I did see breastfeeding babies and toddlers in the parks!
