I've been spotty in reading L net but saw some of the posts about the
toddler w/ breast buds.
Isolate premature telearchy, breast buds, but no other signs of puberty isnt
uncommon.
Its caused by breast tissue sensativity to normal pre-pubertal estrogen
levels.
In such cases there are no other signs of puberty/excess estrogen such as
growth spurts, vaginal tissue changes, or excellerated weight gain
especailly in the buttcks and hips ( testosterone puts weight on the
abdomen).
In the really paraniod parent / doc case one can check estrodiol level and a
wrist x ray for bone age to r/o excellerated growth.
Once while seeing a toddler with this mom commented she felt the "lumps" and
didnt knwo what they were.
To which I said "Youre not doing self breast exams are you?" She wasnt.
