I remember parts of this film and one mistake.  Papa Shostakovich is
explaining to his son about composing and is playing on the piano (what I
recognised to be) an excerpt of the 3rd movement of the 10th symphony (the
famous DSCH motive which also appears in the cello concerto no. 1).  The
only problem is that the scene is in WW2 10 years before the composition.
