Dear Lactnetters, Since Diana won't do it herself, let me urge all of you to read her new book: "Defining Your Own Success: Breastfeeding After Breast Reduction Surgery", by Diana West, with a foreward by Dr. Jack Newman. Coincidentally, I was reading the book when this thread appeared on Lactnet. This book is a great resource for health care professionals working with BFAR (BreastFeeding After Reduction) moms, as well as for the moms themselves. It covers a myriad of issues surrounding post-surgery lactation, and helps the moms come up with realistic expectations for their breastfeeding experience. It is *not* another "how-to-breastfeed" book, and as far as I can tell, it covers new ground on a number of topics, including using supplementers, BFAR moms's emotions, and how health care professionals can support moms with these specific challenges. It does a good job of addressing the fact that breastfeeding doesn't have to be an "all or nothing" proposition, and that it is important, no matter how much breastmilk the baby may be able to receive. Lest you think I have an interest in the book, I don't--just wanted to get the word out that it's a good resource for anybody working with breastfeeding moms. If I missed somebody else posting with the same book report, sorry. :-) Edie Eckman *********************************************** The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
