Music of The Americas Presents Cuarteto Latinoamericano in Concert at the Americas Society - Tuesday, April 23 at 7:30 PM The Americas Society Music of the Americas concert series is pleased to present a concert by the renowned Cuarteto Latinoamericano on Tuesday, April 23, 2002, 7:30 PM at the Americas Society, 680 Park Avenue, corner of Park Avenue and 68th St. in Manhattan. Mexican String Quartet Cuarteto Latinoamericano returns to The Americas Society with guest Joaquin Valdepenas, principal clarinetist of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and whose career includes broadcasts and performances all over the world. The program will include the New York Premiere of Quintet for Clarinet and String Quartet by Joaquin Gutierrez Heras (Mexico), 12 Bagatelas by Roberto Sierra (Puerto Rico), Folk Songs by Reza Vali (Iran/USA), and the Brahms Clarinet Quintet. Cuarteto Latinoamericano has distinguished itself with performances on radio, television and in concert on three continents. Composed of three brothers, violinists Saul and Aron Bitran and cellist Alvaro Bitran, with violist Javier Montiel, their performance of Debussy's Quartet last season at The Americas Society was reviewed by The New York Times to be "as polished and finely balanced as a listener could want".
