Someone mentioned that domperidone costs as much as formula for an infant. It depends on where one gets it. From New Zealand, without prescription and taking 8 tabs a day, it comes to about #1.00 a day. Formula, costs much more than that. Even with the Canadian pharmacy's cost, it is still less than formula. What are U.S. compounding pharmacies charging? Also, with a few exceptions, my clients do not have to continue at the 8 tabs a day dosage. The adoptive mothers do have to continue at this rate, but others are able to eliminate it altogether after their supplies are adequate or drop to 4-5 a day, depending on what the basic problem is. I suspect that the cost issue is similar to the cost issue in hiring a LC to resolve breastfeeding problems. It is not too expensive if one wants the outcome to be a breastfeeding baby.
