Her better-known students include Nikolai Lugansky. (Is Mikhail Petukhov, Anton Mordasov (a recent Van Cliburn competitor) or Elena Andreeva, who also figured amongst her pupils, considered remotely better-known? Hrm, probably not...) I can't resist mentioning, though, that Nikolaeva's *teachers* included Evgeni Golubev (1910-88), a student of Nicolai Miaskovskii and teacher of Alfred Schnitke, composer of 10 piano sonatas, 3 piano concerti, 7+ symphonies, 22 (+?) string quartets and a number of other works (those I'm acquainted with are of high quality) at least one of which (piano concerto #3) was recorded by Ms. Nikolaeva... -Eric Schissel http://www.lightlink.com/schissel http://www.livejournal.com/~malver
