One of our clerks is trying to get pregnant and saw a doctor in an adjoining
area. We have had a hard time talking our clerks into breastfeeding.
Mostly we end up checking these little one's ears constantly. Our office is
full of pictures of breastfeeding, we run two bulletin boards a year, give a
quilt away monthly at WIC, make slings for breastfeeding moms, so they get
the information. But it has been a struggle.
So this clerk had asked the doctor about thing she needed to be doing for
pregnancy planning. He asked her if she planned to breastfeed, she said she
hadn't decided. He said to her, "If you are not going to breastfeed, you
will have to find a new doctor." She was taken aback. I got his name
quickly for referral purposes.
So maybe we will make a bit of progress here in time, although the hospital
lactation consultant and I get discouraged.
