We have an interesting case and a BIG need for some advise. Our patients are .. A surrogate mother living in South Carolina and a Mother living in New York. The mother has had a hysterectomy and is 50 years old, she has 2 other children and she has hired a surrogate for this pregnancy. The surrogate mother is planning to express her breast milk (here in South Carolina) and ship it weekly to the mother in New York. Our question is ??? how?? Any advice will be appreciated. The closest Milk Bank is in Raleigh, North Carolina (4-5 hours away) We want to know how she should store, pack and ship this milk. She is planning on doing this for the first year of life. What are the other options? Could the mother possibly relactate? We have not met the New York mom or the surrogate yet, so we do not have their full medical histories. The surrogate mom has been the one calling and making the arrangements to meet with us and they also requested to meet with our social worker. The New York mom is planning to be in Charleston tomorrow so we will have more answers about them then after our appointment. The surrogate reports they are firm in the plan for her to pump for a year and ship weekly. The baby is due in December. Ok wise ones, we would really appreciate any advice or experience with this kind of situation Pam Price Community Education Coordinator Women's and Children's Services Trident Health System Phone 843-824-5013 Fax 843-797-4692 e-mail [log in to unmask] *********************************************** The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
