I must say that the only recording I've ever heard is Sinopoli's on DGG
4350662.  It's not available in the US, as far as I know, but you can
probably get it in the UK.

I happen to like the work very much, although Brahms wrote it celebrating
Prussia's victory over the French in 1870.  The circumstances, in short,
are less than palatable.  If you can get past them, it's exciting music.
