Carl Banner is a geneticist at the National Institutes of Health outside of Washington DC. He is also the founder and pianist of the Washington Musica Viva chamber music ensemble that performs 7-8 concerts each season at the BannerArts Studio and the Czech Embassy in Washington DC. Carl has written a couple brief articles about the founding and running of WMV with some observations about survival skills of non-profit arts organizations, the funding conundrum, difficulties in securing a venue, musical programming, and the preconceptions of musicians and artists. You can read them on the WMV website at http://www.geocities.com/washingtonmusicaviva and click on the Words Into Music link. Cheers, David Cheng
