Virginia, I agree that coining the name was a brilliant imaginative stroke, since it does in fact remind one of a common hand position used by dancers. I believe it was coined from the two names of co-workers Sarah Danner and Dr. Edward Cerutti, and I have seen it written in some older ('70's?) reference, perhaps in one of her original leaflets on Nursing your [Premature, Neurologically Handicapped, etc, etc,] Baby, as DanCer hand position. (I had the pleasure of meeting with them and learning of their pioneering work in Cleveland several times in the mid '70's when they were originally devising the Hobbit shields.) Jean ************ K.
