Dear Cindy: A couple LEAVEN articles on-line discuss oversupply: http://www.lalecheleague.org/llleaderweb/LV/LVfinish.html http://www.lalecheleague.org/llleaderweb/LV/LVDecJan98p123.html While oversupply is suspected of causing the greenish, frothy stools, blood seems like a different issue. Blood in the stools is frequently linked to milk allergies, (there's lots in the Lactnet archives on this) and it certainly seems worth checking out since the mother's diet is so heavily dairy, and presumably was during the pregnancy, which may have sensitized the baby. Since she's looking at such a radical change in her diet, suggest that she take some time to plan her meals and fill up the house with lots of food she *can* eat before embarking on the elimination diet. (Question for someone with more experience with allergy issues -- should she avoid soy as well? Since she's vegetarian, she may be tempted to load up on soy stuff. Could that cause a similar problem?) She might want to avoid the pumping-after-feeds you mentioned if she's trying to get her supply in balance with the baby's needs. Just for background, there's also a useful LEAVEN article on allergies: http://www.lalecheleague.org/llleaderweb/LV/LVAugSep97p75.html Margaret *********************************************** The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
