I've found over the years that any baby can get addicted/acclimated/used to any method of feeding (sometimes in an incredibly short amount of time!). Babies are super smart and they know their whole life depends on eating and breathing :-) The ideal is to get them to breast first and correctly. The un ideal is what we have to deal with. I've found that it helps to know the reason you are supplementing. Calories - quick fix - use a cup; suck training use an SNS or finger feed. Exhausted mom-middle of night-a bottle <gasp> I'd rather have her resort to one bottle in middle of night than chuck the hole thing (breastfeeding). What you choose depends on your skill and familiarity with method too. And what the parents are willing to do, to try. This is where the art part of what we do comes in.
