The Office of Maternal and Child Health in Philadelphia's Department of
Public Health has produced several handouts in four languages: Vietnamese,
Russian, Khmer and Chinese.

The handouts are:
(1) "Breastmilk: Food from the Heart," an easy-to-read multi-page primer on
the basics of breastfeeding.
(2) "How to Know Your Baby is Getting Enough," a feedings-and-diapers log
for the first week;
(3)  "To Help your Tiny New Baby!" discussing kangaroo care;
(4) "Pumping Milk for your Baby Who is in the Hospital," a log to record
pumping and storage information, and
(5) "Increasing Your Milk Supply for Your Baby Who is in the Hospital,"
again, a pumping log with tips to increase supply.

You will have to send for the booklets through the mail, but they helpfully
note that you may make copies of them. They were revised or written by our
very own Kay Hoover!

I would encourage any IBCLC to ask for these hand-outs. They come with the
English version, too, and (1) above is, in particular, about as good a
pamphlet as you'll see to introduce and explain breastfeeding.

Send to: Phila Dept of Public Health, Office of Maternal and Child Health,
1101 Market St, 9th floor, Philadelphia PA USA 19107, 215-685-5225 (phone)
or 215-685-5257 (fax).
