Well stated, Cynthia. La Leche League's philosophy see: http://www.lalecheleague.org/philosophy.html does not state that we should meet our children's needs all of the time. As Cynthia pointed out, it is impossible and La Leche League Leaders well know that. As Cynthia mentioned, "The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding" and many other books found in LLL libraries try to help mothers find ways to meet their own needs, sleep and otherwise. Judy's post certainly brings home the fact that all of us working with mothers need to be conscious of how we "package" information, especially to sleep-deprived mothers (count me as one of them) who may not be hearing our entire message.
