In celebration of the centenary of Finzi's birth, his setting of Wordsworth's Intimations of Immortality is to be given in London shortly with Philip Langridge / Richard Hickox. Also included are For St. Cecilia, and the clarinet concerto with featured soloist Andrew Marriner (son of Sir Neville). I have seen this setting of the Immortality Ode described as 'controversial' - why should this be so? I notice that there is a Langridge/Hickox recording with Liverpudlian forces - can anyone comment on this recording, or recommend any others? Alan Moss
