Mats Norrman tries for a bit of controversy: >>A partial listing of incredible British composers (and a few very very >>good ones) includes: >> >>Vaughan Williams, Holst, Moeran, Lambert, Brian, Walton, Tippett, Knussen, >>Leigh, Alwyn, Rubbra, Simpson, Leighton, Lutyens, Runswick, Arnold, Finzi, >>Howells, Grainger (Australian-English-American), Ireland, Jacob, Bernard >>Stevens, Frankel, Searle, Bax, Berkeley, Maconchy, LeFanu, Davies, Bridge, >>Warlock, Delius, and - oh, yes - Britten. > >That is not a list of incredible British Composers, that are all British >Composers you know of, and could burp up between your coffee and your >tea.:-( As a matter of fact, they are not all the British composers I know. I left out quite a few, including Chagrin, Leigh, Maw, Bliss, Tavener, Patterson, Michael Berkeley, Goehr, Wordsworth, Hadley, Doyle, Rutter, and the beat goes on. As for "incredible," I've heard them; I like them. Your mileage may vary. Steve Schwartz
