Tony Duggan writes: >I was thinking principally of Germany and perhaps Austria in my >original statement. Well, as people answering to Tony original post, claiming that the contribution of British composers of 20th century music by far outweighs that of some countries, start to defend their compatriot composers, I have to start now, too. I agree that British composers had a great influence on 20th century music, and I love the music they produced, but "by far outweights" is a bit too much, also compared to German/Austrian composers. Thus what about these (just as they come to my mind): Hartmann, Schoenberg, Weill, Berg, Webern, Cerha, Blacher, Klebe, Eissler, Zimmermann (2x), Trojahn, Killmayer, Rihm, Dessau, Matthus, David, Krenek, Dittrich, Stockhausen, Apostel, Korngold, Kraetzschmar, Zechlin, Reimann, Kochan, Hindemith, Rosenfeld, Goldmann, Wagner-Regeny, Schnebel, Lachenmann, Henze, Fortner, Genzmer, Ruzicka, Bialas, Schmitt, Distler, Glanert, Hamel, Lampson (Elmar not Dave), Wolpe, Obst, Pepping, Pfitzner, Karg-Elert, Zender, Mueller-Siemens, Bosse, Wetz, Hoeller, Zemlinski and Mahler?
