Just need to throw in my personal .02. I am the oldest of 6 bottlefed children. All of us were fairly healthy (for the first 50 years of life). I always had perfect attendance in school. However, I probably had undiagnosed gestational diabetes at ages 22 & 24 and diagnosed at ages 40 & 43. Oh, I did have my gallbladder removed at age 25. Since age 50, I have struggled with obesity, adult-onset diabetes and hypertension. A brother and two sisters are now 50+. All investing in treadmills now, having to watch diets and blood chemistries a mess. Time will tell if my four breastfed children will continue to enjoy good health. However, when my 34 year old daughter, pregnant with her second child, emailed me the other day "Mom, no diabetes", I just knew it was the breastfeeding that helped. I am convinced of the long-term benefits of breastfeeding. That is the main reason that I continue to work with breastfeeding mothers and babies.
