Dear All, Please help: The topic is Countries, professional bodies and duty to promote breastfeeding as a healthworker. (midwife, nurse, doctor etc.) I would like info from folk about any regulations or professional guidelines laid down either by professional bodies or in practice acts about the duty to promote breastfeeding. An example of this is the South African Nursing Council has a regulation that a midwife must promote breastfeeding. Students learn this as part of their professional education and it should ensures that breastfeeding education is part of the curriculum. ??? Please also quote negative cases, so if you know that it is not specifically mentioned by the ped association you belong to please tell me. I would like to be able to tie this into some country specific research we have done so if you are able to quote an approximate exclusive breastfeeding rate to go with the info it would be useful. Please reply to me off-line as well, so I dont miss any posts. *********************************************** The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
