Hi Linda and the choir, I experienced a very similar situation in Dec, except the outcome. Baby completely unable to latch, mother unwilling to pump and bottlefeed. ENT, not a pediatric, refused to clip, except under general anesthesia. Parents unwilling, the baby was able to bottle-feed, so no real problem....ARRRGGGHHHH! The pediatrician declined all references because they were written by PRO-BREASTFEEDING physicians (I was holding the photos in the Breastfeeding Atlas, and the Dr. Newman/ Teresa Pitman book). I have been unable to find anything authored by someone against breastfeeding or at least ambivalent. The line of thinking is: " if the frenulum wasn't needed, it would not be there". He equated it to circumcision, which he does not do either. I did challenge the rationale of , "I see this all the time in older children", to inquire about the success/ duration of breastfeeding, particularly nipple pain. No word back on his research. If you are able to find anything, please post it or email me privately, Continuing the quest, Lu Bush RNC,IBCLC Plano, TX [log in to unmask] ----- Original Message ----- From: "Linda Tandy" <[log in to unmask]> To: <[log in to unmask]> Sent: Tuesday, February 06, 2001 3:59 PM Subject: Re: Ankyloglossia > I'm seeking some help from all of you, especially those who are MD's. > Yesterday I was treated very rudely by a pediatrician for a suggestion we > made regarding a very tight frenulum.
