Tammy asked, > Others seem to think that the schools way overstep their > boundries, that this is the domain of parents to teach at home. > Yep, that's me. I have had teachers tell my children many things in direct contradiction of our values. I have had a daughter come home doubting her choice to go into social work as a career because there is no money in it. I have had many reports of teachers denigrating the value of staying at home and breastfeeding past six months. Why would I possibly want anybody like this teaching my children about parenting? Besides, I don't want anyone suggesting that being a teen mom is a bad thing. Hard, maybe, but not so hard when supported. Why isn't anyone teaching themselves how to have good, healthy relationships with their peers and families (by modelling respectful and caring behaviour)?
