Dear Lactnetters, I have a mom who has been advised to begin Laminadine and continue the medication for 2 years as she is positive but asymptomatic for Hepatitis B. She was advised that she could wait until she was no longer breastfeeding but it needed to be done before her next pregnancy. I searched the archives but could only find questions about this drug and some about it's use in Africa with HIV. I guess this is a lower dose and works for Hepatitis B. Can anyone fill me in on it's use and on it's safety with breastfeeding. Could she start it now as she plans to breastfeed at least another 7-8 months? Thanks for any information you can give me.
