I think it is VERY IMPORTANT to have the ultrasound ASAP. Breast changes often occur during pregnancy and many times it is just an element of pregnancy that causes these changes. I was 5 months preggo when I discovered a LARGE hard ball in my left breast. I WANTED IT OUT no matter WHAT it was. I called the top breast surgeon in NYC and asked if he would do it. They said "SUre but you really should wait till you have a conclusive ultrasound."....SO off I went and had it done (this was after my DR scared the daylights out of me), and the tech said, "Nothing to worry about, just a large cyst that will probably correct itself." I asked if he thought I should have a mammogram done and he told me NO, that after the mammogram shows something most women are sent directly for ultrasound anyhow. WHY don't they just do ULTRASOUNDS in the first place rather than mammograms????? They are safer... At any rate, I would think that this woman is surely going to be JUST fine if she gets an ultrasound, and finds out WHAT this could be. I know a few who had breast cancer POP up during pregnancy and who had to do the whole radiation thing WHILE pregnant. Not something I personally would ignore, not worth it. Hope that helps, and the ultrasound BTW is not painful in anyway! Just a little embarrassing, but clearly not as embarrassing as OTHER kinds of ultrasounds some of us preggos have had to have. LOL... Best Wishes to this woman! ~Kim The chronic pain/lactation/pregnancy person... *********************************************** The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
