>>I've met only one mom who is into Dr. Sears and the attachment parenting philosophies vs. scheduling. << I just want to say that I do not believe attachment parenting precludes the use of a reasonable, flexible schedule when dealing with multiples. AP is not the opposite of control-oriented scheduling, but rather is meant to be an intuitive style that recognizes the needs of infants as well as parents, a sensitivity that our society often lacks. In Bill Sear's new breastfeeding book, he comments, "While the typical cue- (or demand-) feeding approach could be too tiring for mothers of twins, the babies may not thrive on a rigid schedule. Somewhere in between is a feeding routine that will work for your family, one that meets the needs of the babies and lets the parents get enough rest." (p209) There seems to be a common misnomer that AP is almost synonymous with parental self-neglect, but it is not. ~Lisa Marasco IBCLC *********************************************** The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
