All of which proves the point:  You want to make a good last impression.  Then just trust the poor memory of subsequent generations to make you remembered as first.  If you think this is a problem in popular cultural history, just look at what it has done for religion!  Maybe we should reiterate to our students that seeing the whole story is more important than focusing just on the finish line.
