I don't agree at all with Donald Scarinci's comments on Telarc. I have been reviewing their CD's for about four years and believe I receive most of them. I rate them at the bottom of the big distributors. Although some of their releases are truly outstanding, many more are dull from a technical recording standpoint, while many others lack any creative energy or imagination. An organization of that size with the money they pull in should be doing a much better job of getting exciting performances and recordings before the public. Few new works or interpretations are released. Telarc doesn't get its share of the international awards either, based on the number of recordings they release each hear. Compare Telarc with Harmonia Mundi and its related labels as an example. Telarc does good promotion, and has some terrific artwork and covers so somebody cares somewhere in that organization.
