Hello to all!! I have been no mail for some time and have been searching the archives for information, but have not found just what I need. (With Permission) Just saw a mother and baby with the following problems: Mom delivered by Cesarean Section 9 days ago. Mom has felt her milk come in and worked through the fullness very well. Baby was nursing fine until 2 days ago when he began to refuse his feedings. Upon observing an attempt at feeding, baby roots, but as he is brought to breast, he arches and flails, finally calms to take 4 sucks or so, then comes off to begin the arching again. Parents began pumping after about 16 hours of this and are offering EBM by nurser . Baby is reluctant on that as well. We thought to try a shield since he has already had a bottle, but that was no help. Mom has tried every position to nurse and none seems better than another. Any Clues would be helpful!! And I have set myself for mail so that I can read posts to the entire list or private.
