Not to minimize Betsy's rant--I share those same feelings of frustration--but just to get things into perspective, it's NOT just breastfeeding, and it's not just doctors. I wish a had a nickel for every stupid thing that every colleague has every told any woman in the past 20 years or so that I've been in practice. Oh! Wait! I'll go one better! I wish I had a nickel for every stupid thing that every health care person has ever told ME! Or my family! In the same breath, let me say that I wish I had a nickel for every stupid thing that I've ever told women that I've taken care of. We're all ignorant, just on different topics. >I am getting so discouraged when I encounter a pediatrician (of FP doc) who >gives false or inaccurate information about breastfeeding. It's so hard to >undo and retrain a mom to have confidence (even when she's doing everything >right)!! Thanks for letting me rant a bit!! How do we change this?
