I nursed both boys at a Brian Adams concert in the sky-dome for doctors. First my 22 mo wanted to nurse, he'd been nursing on and off all day at the park. He easily fell asleep I put him down in the stroller. My 3 1/2 year old was giving me his silent cue for " I will have a temper tantrum if I can't have a turn NOW". So I picked him up like a baby and he fell asleep nursing in about 2 seconds also. One of the doctors girl friends said she missed nursing her child who weaned at 2 yo. I think the others were having a good time and didn't even notice. Some probably don't even know breastfeeding exists and thought "what good children -going to sleep so quickly". In case your wondering this was one of the very few *drug-rep sponsored* social activities I have been to. When the company asked if they could count on my support, I said "only if they get me good seats at the next Ricky Martin concert". :) I am sure some of you are insulted by me using a stroller. However, I find it very difficult to carry a 30 pound and a 50 pound child in slings. Not to mention my water, sunscreen, 2 sets of diapers, change of clothes, snacks etc...... Seriously how do you counsel moms to use slings when there is more than one baby. Even when my youngest was 4 months and 20 pounds I found it extremely hard to have him in a sling and to be lifting the other who was about 40 pounds in and out of his chair, off the counter, across the street. Most of the time they both wanted to nurse and having one in the sling just got in the way of the other one's access to me. I want to know what kind of situations you have heard moms say they couldn't use a sling and how you have helped overcome the problem. I certainly want to encourage moms to use the sling most of the time as long as possible. Just curious as to what you have to say.
