The movie was "All the Mornings of the World." It was really as much about Marin Marais as it was about Sainte-Colombe. In reality, Marais was a student of Sainte-Colombe just like the movie presented. When questioned on Marais' viol playing Sainte-Colombe replied,"There is someone among my students who could surpass their teacher but he will never find someone to surpass himself." I have some of Sainte-Colombe's music on CD. It isn't terribly easy to find in large quantity. I believe Astree has a few discs of his music which I have yet to purchase. His music is really beautiful. If you haven't already, I would suggest looking into the music of Marin Marais. I have never heard any greater works for viol then those written by Marais. I'm sorry, but I really do not know where to get sheet music from either of these composers but I expect someone on this list will have an answer for you! Great instruments those viols!!!
