It might be said that the highest concentration per square mile of top
quality brain cells in the world are to be found in the Boston area and
yet the city has no opera house (at least not of the size/quality of NY,
Chicago etc.).

Is this a question of a lack of interest, a lack of funding, too time
consuming for academics or is there some other explanation?

Perhaps amongst US listers Professor Chasan can offer some thoughts on
this?
