Hello everyone from Hollister, CA! I have been thinking about the following question and wondered if anyone on the list has any input. As you may or may not know, there is no such thing as a CranioSacral Therapist (although Upledger is working on it). There are OT, PT, MT and others who do CranioSacral Therapy (CST) my question is how can IBCLCs who are attending CST training sessions be able to legally use CST within their practice (or Lymphatic Drainage for that matter)? In order to do CST one has to be licensed in some form (I think) to do some type of body work at least until there is a CS Therapist. Upledger does offer certification after CSTII, but even with this certification it is my understanding that you cannot legally practice CST unless you are licensed or work under someone who is a licensed bodyworker of some form. Any thoughts? CST and Lymphatic Drainage are wonderful tools that can certainly help many of our mothers and babies. These are both tools that can do no harm, so can we legally use them under the LC hat or should we refer out? With the training can we use CST on our clients and can we have a separate charge for this tool? I do know that there are two forms of certification with Upledger CST-T which is a certification on techniques and CST-D which means you are much more advanced and have received more training and there are no others or other alphabet soup that can be used (or should be). I, for one, will be working towards certification as CST-T because I do find CST truly incredible! See ya, Yvonne C.
