I didn't see a reference to Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante in the responses
to this question. Not, I suppose, technically a violin concerto, I can't
imagine anyone interested in the concerto literature not being drawn to
this wonderful work in which the violin shares the stage with the viola.
It's a more mature work than Mozart's violin concertos proper, with a
wonderful orchestral sound; as with other top-drawer Mozart concertos,
the slow movement is heart-breakingly beautiful.
