Hi Yael, I agree with what you say below. I feel the same way whenever I read lactnet. I have been ibclc since 1992 and realize how much more I know now but how much more I still have to learn. But that is true of any profession. My husband is a towboat pilot and I can remember when he was learning piloting and all the rivers etc and now he is regarded as one of the best (age 49 with lots of years experience now). Same when I started working in nicu and after 10 yrs became regarded as one of the veterans. Any professional, especially a healthcare professional, should always want to grow and learn. I can't imagine that an opthamologist or neurologist (or whatever) would ever stop learning new info, techniques, etc. I appreciate lactnet so much for providing so much information, motivation, and exposure to new resources for me to explore. I am currently reading Current Issues in Clinical Lactation 2000 (CICL), editor K. Auerbach, and I find it excellent!!! Also Barbara Wilson-Clay's and Kay Hoover's book, the BF ATlas, which I recenlty finished, and in which (as I told Barbara) I find the text even more valuable than the photographs! Can't wait to get Jack's book next and to plug it in my bf class tomorrow night! Thanks to all the professionals who share on lactnet. Laurie <<When I got the IBCLC credential, I felt I know less than ever. Because, being *certified*, I am supposed to know a lot, yet still I feel I know so little. snip I am humbled by the amount of experience and wisdom here on lactnet, compared to mine. But I am learning all the time, and, as Esther said, the more I learn, the more I realize how much more there is to learn.>> Laurie Wheeler, RN, MN, IBCLC Violet Louisiana, s.e.
