I have stated this many times to my coworkers and managers. However, some of them disagree and at present we the ibclcs are the ones really seeing and teaching all the moms all the normal stuff. We could definitely make more progress and do more for the moms/babies if we were utilized to do more staff development (cont. education) and see the challenging cases. If all the maternity staff were educated/trained then the moms and babies would get MUCH better bf care/support. This is a pet peeve of mine. But I don't run the show.
