Poor Gould. First he hums, then he sings, then he's inconsiderate, and now he sings loudly. By tomorrow, he'll be "bellowing". It is an amusing notion that Gould's level of popularity, up or down, is based partially on his humming. As for his lack of wide-spread popularity, he is one of the most well known pianists of the 20th Century, and probably the best known player of Bach keyboard works. Regardless of whether he's good or not, he has a BIG name and reputation. And of course, that's one of the prime reasons some list members are writing negatively of Gould. Don Satz [log in to unmask]
