James Kearney, explaining how he came to match conducting styles with hair
styles, writes:

Serendipity!  It's blindingly true that composing happens just beneath
the scalp.  I'd apply this shining appercu differently from James Kearney,
though.  Match the composer's hair style with conductor's hair style, I
say;it's the organic way of achieving music with organic integrity.  Eg,
I'd match up Celibidache's mane with Liszt's mane--and that way you'd be
sure to get genuine Celibidache doing non-imitation Liszt.  Got it?
